Flor De Las Antillas 10th Anniversary 2022 review by Don José

Hey team, Don José here back with another review.

Today we have the

Flor De Las Antillas 10th Anniversary

by My Fathers Cigars.

If this is your first time here, my reviews rate each cigar on 10 factors and each factor gets a rating out of 10 giving me an overall out of 100. The 10 factors are: Construction, Draw, Burn, Flavour, 1/3 overall, 2/3 overall, 3/3 overall, Journey (how well it flows), Complexity & Value for money.

Overview

Ahh back with another really long named cigar.. seems to be a trend haha.

The Flor De Las Antillas 10th Anniversary 2022 by My Fathers Cigars is a Nica Puro made from tobacco solely grown on Garcia farms.

Obviously this stick is made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Flor De Las Antillas, which was release in 2012. The 2012 release of the Flor De Las Antillas was full or praise and it was rated 98 points on cigar aficionado as well as the #1 cigar of that year!

This 10th anniversary version however... has had some pretty mixed reviews... Across the board its sitting mostly in the early 90's however there are more than a few reviews dumping it down to 80 flat... and a quote from one was "Could this cigar be one of those intolerable acts against humanity I’ve heard so much about? Was Pepin Garcia asleep at the wheel and some intern blended this?"

Needless to say, I'm really interested to see how this goes... It's one thing to go into a review having only hear amazing things about a cigar, but to go into one so varied, its almost more enjoyable, Let's see where this sample sits.

Details:

  • Brand: My Fathers Cigars

  • Size: 6.5x52 Toro

  • Wrapper: Nicaraguan

  • Binder: Nicaraguan

  • Filler: Nicaraguan

let's get into the review.

First thoughts

Great looking cigar, the 10th anniversary foot band giving it a nice extra touch. Milk Chocolate brown wrapper with some good teeth.

Construction

Good construction overall, a slightly darker wrapper than the original blend. There are a few 'softer' spots throughout which is interesting.

Burn & Draw Burn and Draw are.. ok. This is the part I've seen the most drop in points when reading other reviews too, mine isn't bad like some people are saying, but its not perfect. Perhaps I can see a glimpse of what some are getting frustrated by? That said, I'm rating on my sample and so its not dropping many points here.

Flavour & Complexity Flavours are awesome, and well, thats pretty important. Coffee, earth, cocoa, nutmeg, leather and some sweetness.

Strength 84% - Mid - Full (slightly stronger than the original.

Enjoyment / Journey To me, this was a perfectly enjoyable cigar. In no way did I experience issue enough to drop it's points to as low as 80. But at the same time, I agree that it's not a high 90's stick like its namesake.

Overall Overall, with only 60,000 made, its worth trying one of these if you can get one.. but maybe get 5 and compare them as there could just be a consistency issue wit the rolls.

I rate this cigar 90 points!

A look at the numbers.
