Rocky Patel 60 review by Don José

Hey team, Don José here back with another review.

Today we have the

The 60

by Rocky Patel

If this is your first time here, my reviews rate each cigar on 10 factors and each factor gets a rating out of 10 giving me an overall out of 100. The 10 factors are: Construction, Draw, Burn, Flavour, 1/3 overall, 2/3 overall, 3/3 overall, Journey (how well it flows), Complexity & Value for money.

Overview

The Rocky Patel 60 was created to celebrate Rocky Patels 60th birthday.

The reputation on this cigar is insane... Voted #2 cigar of 2022 by Cigar Aficionado with a massive 96 points - Which RP claim as #1 cigar of the free world ;) and it has been snapping up mid 90's and above all over the world on review sites.

The cigar is Aged a minimum of 2 years after rolling at RP's factories in Esteli, Nicaragua and features a Nicaraguan binder and filler, wrapped up in a Mexican San Andres wrapper.

Needless to say, I am quite excited to try this cigar!

About the wrapper.

Mexican San Andrés is arguably as popular as Connecticut Broadleaf. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, it’s thick, naturally sweet, and most-often stalk cut prior to curing.

In 1880, Cuban tobacco grower Alberto Turrent left his Cuba and moved to Mexico’s San Andrés Valley in Veracruz, the eastern side of the country on the Gulf of Mexico.

He had Cuban tobacco seeds with him and planted what would become the first Mexican San Andrés tobaccos.

Today, after 6 generations, the A. Turrent farms are still the largest producer of San Andrés wrappers in the world.

The soil in Veracruz is volcanic and dense. It’s extremely humid.

All of this contributes to the unique flavour of the San Andrés cigar wrapper.

let's get into the review.

First thoughts

It's a great looking cigar, no doubt about that.

Construction

Construction is 10/10, A great box pressed cigar with no visible flaws.

Burn & Draw Again, nothing to fault it here, this cigar smokes perfectly. Aged and box-presseing giving it a nice, even, sharp burnline and a good slow burn.

Flavour & Complexity Leather, wood, nuts, pepper and coffee! Common notes from a San Andres, but there is no denying this stick has something special, A 'wow factor' that people are putting down to the 2 years aging.. but Im not buying that, The edge has 10 years aging on the wrapper tobacco and is nothing on this stick - that said, this 2yrs is AFTER it is rolled... so maybe, just maybe - thats the key?

Strength 85% - Medium - Full

Enjoyment / Journey Damn.. This cigar is incredible. nothing else to say.

Overall Do yourself a favour and get yourself one of these, hell get a box, you wont regret it.

I rate this cigar 97 points!
