Unleashed 3 review by Don José

Hey team, Don José here back with another review.

Today we have the

Unleashed 3

by Camacho.

If this is your first time here, my reviews rate each cigar on 10 factors and each factor gets a rating out of 10 giving me an overall out of 100. The 10 factors are: Construction, Draw, Burn, Flavour, 1/3 overall, 2/3 overall, 3/3 overall, Journey (how well it flows), Complexity & Value for money.

Overview

Camacho Factory Unleashed is a limited release from Camacho now in its 3rd year. Each year’s release is given it's own unique blend with the goal of creating a bold smoking experience.

Rolled in the same dimensions as the previous two releases (6 inches by 50 ring gauge), this year’s Camacho Factory Unleashed 3 turns to Mexico with a maduro wrapper from the San Andrés Valley.

Produced in Honduras at the Camacho Factory, the cigars come in rustic, wooden 100-count crates (with only 1,000 crates produced) or paper-wrapped bundles of 10 (of which an additional 2,500 were produced.)

Details:

  • Brand: Camacho

  • Size: Toro

  • Wrapper: Mexican, San Andres

  • Binder: Honduran

  • Filler: Honduras and the Dominican Republic

About the wrapper.

Mexican San Andrés is arguably as popular as Connecticut Broadleaf.

Like Connecticut Broadleaf, it’s thick, naturally sweet, and most-often stalk cut prior to curing.

In 1880, Cuban tobacco grower Alberto Turrent left his Cuba and moved to Mexico’s San Andrés Valley in Veracruz, the eastern side of the country on the Gulf of Mexico. He had Cuban tobacco seeds with him and planted what would become the first Mexican San Andrés tobaccos.

Today, after 6 generations, the A. Turrent farms are still the largest producer of San Andrés wrappers in the world.

The soil in Veracruz is volcanic and dense. It’s extremely humid. All of this contributes to the unique flavour of the San Andrés cigar wrapper.

let's get into the review.

First thoughts

This stick has a classic Camacho look, the band is the same as the #1 & #2 but with the change to 3 under the writing obv..

It has a 'rugged' or exposed foot that is about 15mm past the end of the wrapper and the Cold draw gives me natural tobacco sweetness and coco.

Construction

Great construction, nice dense toro with a toothy, dark wrapper.

Burn & Draw Fantastic Burn and Draw, for such a dense feeling cigar it produced a good helping of thick smoke - no re-lites.

Flavour & Complexity This is quite a flavour bomb actually! Chocolate, leather, caramel, cream, cedar & earth - all with a hint of spice.

Strength 87% - Full

Enjoyment / Journey Its been some time since I smoked a Camacho and I have always been a fan. They are bold sticks with a whack of flavour. The Journey was fairly easy going, as in it was pretty consistent, a little more variation wouldn't have gone a miss.

Overall Another great offering from the Camacho Factory Unleashed line. And a good reminder that I need to smoke more Camachos again! They are always great cigars.

I rate this cigar 88 points!

A look at the numbers.
